Is your cabin a B&B or rental?
People ask us if we have a rental or a B&B. The answer is sort of both depending on what you want. When you rent Quinta Sonada you are the only guests there. You can have as much privacy as you wish. However, if you wish the services of our host family, they live on the farm about 200 yards away.

They will come to the house and cook you wonderful hearty Costa Rican meals. They do most of the prep back at their house so in a short time you will have set at your table a wonderful meal, and some time to get to know our Costa Rican family as well. They clean it up and leave you to your privacy in short order. You can speak to Jose about arranging trips, fishing, taking out the kayaks, etc. over dinner. His wife and children speak pretty good English.
How long does it take to drive from San Jose?
Realistically, the drive takes 7-8 hours but it is a stunning drive along either the coastal route or mountain route.
Do I need 4 wheel drive to get to this vacation rental?
You don't need it in the dry season but 4x4 helps to explore the surrounding area and in the wet season.
Is there an airport nearby this beach retreat?
Yes, there is an airport a half hour away by taxi.
How much do meals cost at Quinta Soñada?
Breakfast -$6
Lunch - $8
Dinner - $8

How far is town?
Town, Puerto Jimenez is 20 minutes away and there are plenty of places to eat and shop.
How are the bugs?
In the dry season, there are very few bugs. In the wet season, no-see-ums are a bother at dawn and dusk. Bring insect repellent. We have high quality nets for sleeping to keep out all bugs.
How is the water?
The drinking water is pure well water. No chemicals have ever been put on the land here.
Can I plug in my hair dryer?
Well, we have 110 volt power but hair dryers use a huge amount of our solar electricity. For this reason we strongly ask you not to bring them. In this climate your hair will dry very fast.
Is there music?
There is a good quality CD player with speakers throughout the house. Bring CDs! You can plug in your ipod.
Is my stuff safe?
Yes, my caretaker is on the property 24 hours a day.
What else is there to do?
Fishing, kayaking, bird watching, swimming, enjoying nature and hiking. Corcovado, the crown jewel of National Parks, is just down the road. Ferry to Golfito and Panama - all are nice day trips.
Can anyone show us around?
Yes. Jose on the property will be happy to show you to surrounding parks, waterfalls, beaches, bird watching areas, etc. As well, his wife Illiette can do laundry. Please remember this family makes a little on cooking meals so please be considerate when it comes to leaving a tip. They thank you !
How do I contact you?
Email. Allow for delay as I am often away from a computer. If in Costa Rica call Isabel at OsaTropical for info. Her # is (506) 735 5062 dial (011) if in the US.
